#BigBible Changes

Apologies for some slightly odd things happening on the Big Bible site at the moment/over the past week, we have had a slight issue with the WordPress software, which we are currently sorting! There is also feedback to come from the meeting on 7th June, and from the events we have recently been to!

The Big Bible Site is going to be recreated in four areas (more information to come):

  • “The Mashable of the Bible”, highlighting and following stories from digital sites and projects focusing upon the Bible. (Mashable is the ‘first-stop site’ for news in social and digital media, technology and web culture)
  • Digital Literacy, enabling people to use social media to engage with these projects, a list of social media training/events in the Christian sector, and referring people to sites such as Digital Fingerprint and DigiMission for more information.
  • The Big Read 2012 for Lent 2012, and similar  projects to encourage ‘bigger (digital) conversations’ around Biblical Literacy.
  • #DigiDisciple, with the strapline: ‘Living Biblically in a Digital Age’, where we follow a number of people as they consider how they live out their faith in a digital space, and how the Bible helps them with that, or how the digital faith encourages them to engage with the Bible. They’ll be more guidance for #Digidisciple to come very shortly!

The Big Bible site then focuses on the journey to Biblical Literacy in the online/offline spaces. This clarification makes it possible for us to work more closely with Biblefresh, Open Source, MediaLit, the Church and Media Network, etc. as we learn from those experimental elements of the past year.
