Second Life Bible Studies with @loozeta

Second Life (® Linden Labs) lends itself to a curious virtual environment where people can express their dreams and visions, you create avatars that interact, expressing yourself as weird and as wonderful as you wish. It facilitates the darkest fantasies, and trust me as a seasoned midwife, I have found myself prudish, specifically when I see subjugation being expressed. I remind myself we are not called to judge.

It is a psychologists study field, but also a mission field. Why should not God be there? The Omnipresent knows every corner of weakness within our souls. Remember Matthew?

27“You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’e 28But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

So many Christians flee from ‘temptation’, others dig in and form long lasting Christian communities. Many have heard about the virtual Cathedral on ‘Epiphany’, under the guidance of real Anglicans and Methodists, and Wings of Hope Magazine.

I became creative I was saddened that individuals pushed their own ego, and said to God ‘What’? I had learnt to build, and so I started to develop illustrations of well known Bible passages. I will be honest it is an opportunity for me to explore God’s Word, and a distraction from a demanding job. It has not come from nowhere, I did receive training as a local preacher in a Leeds Methodist circuit, then London East End, and finally Birmingham, where work commitment finally had manifest, but it enabled me with the confidence to ‘share’.

Last November I found myself back on the main Linden grid, with a three month half price membership offer. I went off to look at the ‘Christian scene’, God had me then prayer walking. Three months wandering and asking God again ‘what’? I was asked by the Rev Fred, to make bread from stones, the script has been challenging, but the attached picture shows where I have got to, a work in progress.

I started interacting with the leadership, and a Finn, an old friend, also called back to second life, challenged me;

‘Where are the Bible Studies?’

The jigsaw started to come together. I knew that these separate communities needed to share God’s Word, and just like the social media project ‘The Big Bible’, needed to break down the barriers that divide as denominations. We are Kingdom people. Please pray for the first starting next Tuesday 9pm GMT, 1pm PST (second life time).

Getting an international sporadic community to buy Tom Wright’s book is impossible, but have been offerred space, at Jesus House, and support to start. The study? ‘Jesus using scripture’, starting with Deuteronomy 8:3 and Matthew 4 and Luke 4. With subtext; ‘Temptation’, .

I pray for a Christian scriptor to take over what I have started, anybody saying, ‘I can do better’?

Many Blessings for this lent season,

Lorraine Wall-Jones (aka Loo Zeta)
