Salvation: Being Made Whole (@dotsters) #BigBible

Salvation comes no other way; no other name has been or will be given to us by which we can be saved, only this one. Acts 4 :12 The Message

This verse came into my head ( although it was the KIng James Version) after seeing a post for a conference on alternative salvations. It has not gone away in over a week and it is even becoming a bit of a potential theme for our University carol service!

As a Christian I believe in Jesus being the gift of salvation for the world, for me personally and for anyone else who recognises their need of God’s mercy and grace. As I was thinking about our carol service (yes I know it is only June!!) Psalm 85:6 to the end was another passage that came to mind!

Why not help us make a fresh start—a resurrection life?

Then your people will laugh and sing!

Show us how much you love us, God!

Give us the salvation we need!

 8-9 I can’t wait to hear what he’ll say.

God’s about to pronounce his people well,

The holy people he loves so much,

so they’ll never again live like fools.

See how close his salvation is to those who fear him?

Our country is home base for Glory!

10 Love and Truth meet in the street,

Right Living and Whole Living embrace and kiss!

13 Right Living strides out before him,

and clears a path for his passage.

Resurrection life! What a new start that is, so unlike any other religion in the world, we can have that life, and yet so many people choose not to recognise that it is theirs if only they would open their hearts and minds to the most amazing gift. Many people choose to live their life for themselves and for their families, and that is all well & good, but very often it becomes a self centred style of living. ‘What is in it for me? what will I gain from doing this? Will I get recognition?‘ I have heard over recent times, an increase in these values and as a result of this a decrease in caring for others – or loving others as Jesus tells us to do. Salvation is about rescuing, being made well, being made whole. When someone is well, or whole, they think about others, as that is part of being a whole person, a well rounded person, someone who does not only think of themselves and people close to them.

Love and truth meet in the street, right living and whole living embrace and kiss… Let’s try to be more aware of constantly needing to be made whole and well, and recognise our own need of salvation through Jesus Christ.
