#BIGRead14: Emptiness (Read by Katie Girsch)

Abba, patient one,
have mercy on me as I come to you
with nothing to give.
Have mercy on my tired mind.
Have mercy on my empty hands.
Have mercy on my weary legs.
Have mercy on a heart that feels like a vacuum.

Abba, patient one,
in the absence of anything to give, I
pray for the blessing of your grace.
I do not ask to be fulfilled.
I do not ask for a burst of energy.
I do not ask for a vision.
I could not bear sudden enthusiasm – so
spare me that.

Abba, patient one, bless my lack of gift.
Bless my tired mind.
Bless my empty hands.
Bless my weary legs.
Bless my inner vacuum.
